| bf.collaboration Inc. adds SOAP/XML Web Service to its Document Management System,
bf.documents. |
|
VIENNA, VIRGINIA, November 1, 2006 -- bf.collaboration, Inc., a software products and services company specializing in web-based, enterprise document and content management and collaboration software, has begun including its new SOAP/XML Web Service interface with all new instances of bf.collaboration and/or bf.documents.
bf.documents becomes one of the few document/content management system to offer a SOAP/XML web service that provides a means to access content – data, and documents – as well as manage content from applications that are completely separate from the bf.documents instance.
Content remains secure by including user credentials in the SOAP portion of each XML request. This includes, at a minimum, authentication strings that must match with a user profile in the system database – and then must have the necessary permissions to carry out the request(s). Security can be increased by utilizing bf.collaboration’s custom Variable Length Key (VLK) encryption algorithm, other custom encryptions, and/or utilizing SSL certificates.
With this new SOAP/XML web service, clients and other organizations are free and able to write their own applications that add, process, extract, and/or remove data from bf.documents. One application has already been written. bf.collaboration, Inc. has developed a Windows application/interface for bf.documents that uses the SOAP/XML web service, and is supplied at no extra cost to use with all instances of bf.documents and bf.collaboration. Some other potential applications are:
| • |
Operating System Specific Application Interfaces: Like the Windows application developed by bf.collaboration, Inc., clients and organizations can develop new interfaces for Linux, Mac, or other operating systems. |
| • |
Automated Applications: Applications that automatically (scheduled, event driven, etc.) extract and/or process information from bf.documents. For instance, report generation applications and maintenance applications. |
| • |
PDA Applications: Custom applications can be built for web-enabled phones and PDAs that provide access to bf.documents data and content through the wireless web. |
| • |
Custom Search Applications: Rather than the generic “advanced search” supplied with bf.documents, specialized search applications, customized with specific parameters, restrictions, and result views could be developed for specific needs. |
| • |
Syndication and Integration: The SOAP/XML web service provides access for other websites – both internal and external – to access and/or update data and documents stored in
bf.documents. |
